CIP Level 1 Certification
Basic Coating Inspector

Completing the Coatings Inspector Program (CIP) Level 1 course is the first step in obtaining Basic Coatings Inspector certification. The CIP Level 1 course provides basic knowledge of coating materials, surface preparation and application techniques, and inspection testing and documentation.

After successfully completing your Base Coatings Inspector certification, you will be able to perform base coating inspections on steel substrates using non-destructive testing and instrumentation.

Although specifically designed for trainee coatings inspectors, this program benefits anyone wishing to gain a better understanding of coatings and inspection, including:

  • Project managers, supervisors/foremen and engineers

  • Maintenance and quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) personnel

  • Contractors and quote writers

  • Coating manufacturer and technical representatives

  • Manufacturers and welders

  • Paint applicators and sandblasters
